The outbreak of the war in Iran and the subsequent spike in natural gas and fuel prices have given people plenty to talk about on the French recovered paper market. However, there have been no direct effects on recovered paper prices to date.
Market players are now adopting a wait and see approach as they assess how the situation develops.
All in all, March was thus a month of little change, with reasonably solid demand for ordinary recovered paper grades and only slight downward price adjustments for high grades.
French prices for mixed paper (1.02), supermarket paper and board (1.04), and old corrugated containers (OCC; 1.05) remained unchanged in March. Suppliers had been hoping for a price increase. Demand was described as quite stable, both on the domestic market and export markets in the Far East.
