Securing recovery capacity for waste wood becomes more of a priority again in Germany

After months of tight or even scarce supply on the German waste wood market, it appears the balance in the market has been tipping in recent weeks. However, this trend turnaround is not driven by an uptick in volumes, which are still not particularly abundant, but rather a decrease in recycling and incineration capacity.

In southern Germany in particular, there are bottlenecks in waste wood recovery because major biomass power plants are off-line at the same time, and sometimes for unexpectedly long periods, respondents say.

On the whole, securing waste management capacity is once again becoming more of an issue in the waste wood market. The current situation on the German non-hazardous waste incineration market is also having a knock-on effect.
