Treatment prices move sideways on German e-waste market

Germany’s market for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) has not been very dynamic over the past few months. Collection volumes remained weak and revenues from the secondary raw materials recovered from e-scrap were relatively stable, except for a few fluctuations. As a result, there were once again only slight price changes for the various collection categories.

WEEE arisings continue to be relatively low, reflecting the sluggish economy and subdued consumer spending in Germany right now. While some recycling plant operators say volumes declined further in recent months and the summer lull was more pronounced than usual, other market participants say intake volumes have been sufficient and sometimes exceeded expectations.
