Widespread machine stoppages and lacklustre demand for finished paper within Europe continued to characterise the British recovered paper market in September. According to market players interviewed by EUWID, demand for brown packaging grades remained largely subdued both in the UK and in other European countries.
Old corrugated container (OCC; 1.05) prices have been highly volatile: prices increased here and there in late August and early September after a few European paper mills drew down their inventories significantly and placed orders at short notice.
