The downward price trend on the German waste plastics market seems to have stalled in August. Prices had apparently bottomed out, several market participants said. However, demand for regrind and recycled pellet remains weak. The market is expected to pick up again after the summer break, as some converters have empty warehouses and prices for primary plastics are poised to rise. All players say they have now "written off” the year 2023. Many respondents predict there will be no real improvement before the second quarter of 2024.
