Danish government aims to reduce EPR burden on businesses

The Danish government has presented a package of measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on businesses from the implementation of European Union rules on extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging.  In a statement issued last week, the Ministry of Environment stressed that while EPR remains a central part of Denmark’s environmental policy, the scheme must be implemented in a way that is economically viable. Accordingly, the level of fees companies must pay for the collection and treatment of packaging waste will be lowered and companies will be permitted to pay in instalments so as to further ease the financial pressure in the short term. ...
