A series of corrections to the rules governing green-list waste shipments for recovery to non-OECD countries were published in the Official Journal of the European Union and entered into effect at the start of April. The new legislation (Regulation 2022/520) included the corrections for recovered paper exports to India which had been eagerly anticipated since the EU rules for waste shipments to non-OECD countries were updated last autumn.
But this was only one of several changes and corrections to the Regulation, which details in its annex which waste imports non-OECD countries are willing to accept and which control procedures are to be applied to those streams in each country.
