Because of shortcomings in the transposition of the 2018 amendment to the EU Waste Framework Directive (WFD), the European Commission has decided to open an infringement procedure against the Netherlands. The EU authority announced in the week before Christmas that it would send a letter of formal notice to the Dutch government. As part of its previous "infringements package", the EU Commission had already sent letters of formal notice related to shortcomings or gaps in the WFD's transposition to six other EU member states....
