EU Commission warns Poland over ELV legislation

|

The European Commission has set Poland a two-month deadline to bring its legislation on the management of end-of-life vehicles (ELV) in line with the EU ELV Directive. Announcing plans to send a reasoned opinion to Poland on Thursday, the EU body said it was “concerned about continued shortcomings and the slow pace of changes to Polish legislation”.

The Commission believes that there are a number of gaps and deficiencies, also as regards the financing system for ELV management. A reasoned opinion is the second stage of the infringement procedure and the final step before the referral of the case to the European Court of Justice.
