EU: New provisions on calculating recyclate target for single-use plastic bottles

TAC majority votes to adopt implementing decision for SUPD

The European Commission’s proposed implementing decision relating to recycled plastic content in single-use plastic beverage bottles was adopted the Technical Adaptation Committee for waste legislation (TAC) on 6 February and is now publicly available. The new rules flesh out the provisions of the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), in particular with a view to material derived from chemical recycling processes, mass balance accounting and imports from non-EU countries. 

A total of 20 member states voted in favour of the decision, while six countries abstained and one country voted against it....
