European Commission launches public consultation on upcoming Circular Economy Act

The consultation is open until November 6 and allows respondents to assess various potential measures for promoting the circular economy.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation to prepare its upcoming Circular Economy Act (CEA). The wide-ranging consultation, which opened last Friday, is aimed both at experts and the "interested public" and will run until 6 November.

According to the Commission, the feedback will provide it with "a better understanding of the bottlenecks and opportunities for advancing the circular economy in Europe". The EU authority confirmed its intention to present the legislative proposal in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The consultation questionnaire addresses potential options for reducing landfill and incineration of waste, among other issues. The collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and measures to boost supply and demand for secondary raw materials in the EU are also among the topics covered....
