French court annuls decree subjecting use of "Green Dot" to penalty

The "Green Dot" symbol can be used on packaging in France without incurring additional fees, following a decision by France's supreme administrative court at the end of June. The Conseil d'État decided in favour of the "Der Grüne Punkt" and the packaging recovery systems umbrella group PRO Europe, annulling a decree issued by the French Ministry of the Environment in November 2020.

In March 2021, the Conseil d'État temporarily suspended the implementing decree, approving the applications made for a temporary injunction filed by the green dot company Duales System Deutschland (DSD), PRO Europe along with the associations representing segments of the French consumer goods industry....
