Austria's environment ministry is looking into allegations that separately collected packaging waste designated for recycling has been sent for recovery at waste-to-energy plants or refuse-derived fuel (RDF) fired power plants without prior sorting. The case involves "yellow bin" waste, that is lightweight packaging waste – consisting of paper, board, plastic and metal – collected from households and businesses. The Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment and Energy is seeking to determine whether there have been breaches of national waste law....
