Plastics Treaty: Delegates in Paris greenlight preparation of draft text

Some progress has been made in the preparatory work for an international agreement meant to end plastic pollution. In the second round of negotiations in Paris, almost 170 countries agreed that a draft agreement should be prepared by the chair of the Inter-governmental Negotiating Committee (INC) and the secretariat, said the UN Environmental Programme after the close of the meeting on Saturday. This "zero draft" of the agreement is to be completed before delegates meet again at their third conference which will be held in Kenya in November (INC-3).
