Portugal launched its nationwide deposit-return scheme (DRS) for single-use beverage containers on 10 April. With the official start of the system, Portugal is becoming the 19th European country to introduce a DRS for single-use bottles and cans. It is also the first continental Southern European country to implement a nationwide system, according to Slovak software company Sensoneo, which supplied the IT platform forming the "digital backbone" of the Portuguese scheme. ...
