Scotland pushes back go-live date for beverage container DRS

Scotland is delaying the start of its national deposit return scheme (DRS) for beverage containers as part of a "fresh start" announced by First Minister Humza Yousaf in a statement given before the Scottish Parliament yesterday. Mr Yousaf said that the launch would now be pushed back from 16 August of this year until 1 March 2024, giving businesses 10 additional months to get ready.

This is the second time the launch of Scotland's DRS has been postponed. It was bumped back from its original July 2022 start date due to pandemic-related delays....
