The Spanish anti-trust authority CNMC (Comisión Nacional de Mercados y la Competencia) has launched an investigation against packaging compliance organisation Ecoembes, alleging that it abused its dominant market position. Specifically, CNMC says that the auction procedure the organisation has used since at least 2004 "was carried out without guarantees of transparency and hampered access by recycling companies". The authority points out that Ecoembes is the only "integrated management system" for plastic packaging waste in Spain....
