In its upcoming "green claims initiative" and the review of ecolabel criteria for textiles and shoes, the European Commission plans to address advertising claims related to the incorporation of recycled plastic in textiles.
"The accuracy of green claims made on using recycled plastic polymers in apparel where these polymers do not come from fibre-to-fibre recycling, but in particular from sorted PET bottles" are a "specific source of growing concern", the Commission wrote in its textiles strategy released at the end of March....
