Textile value chain urges swift harmonisation following adoption of amended EU Waste Framework Directive

The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) has joined business groups across the textiles and footwear value chain in welcoming the EU Parliament’s adoption of the revised Waste Framework Directive. In a joint statement they press for the rapid and harmonised implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR) rules.

The organisations representing manufacturers, retailers, recyclers and sporting goods producers described the Parliament's vote as "a decisive step" towards a consistent EU framework for EPR for textiles. They cautioned, however, that only clear direction from the European Commission, implemented quickly, could guarantee a level playing field and prevent fragmentation of the single market....
