The waste agency of Catalonia has sold an incineration plant for hazardous wastes to Sarp Industries, a subsidiary of French group Veolia Environnement.

Veolia announced the take-over on 9 February, reporting that the facility located in Constanti near Tarragona has an annual treatment capacity of up to 60,000 tonnes of hazardous waste. The acquisition extends the group’s portfolio and geographic presence and consolidates its leading position on this market, according to Veolia. The plant was sold through public auction, with the French group submitting the winning bid of €23.6m, the Catalan waste agency announced at the end of December.
