Lower revenues for Suez Environnement's European waste business in first quarter

|

A sharp drop in prices for secondary raw materials and energy led to falling revenues for the European waste management operations of French environmental services group Suez. With a turnover of €1.50bn in the first quarter of 2016, division sales slipped 2.4 per cent below the mark of €1.54bn for the same period a year ago, Suez announced on Thursday in Paris.

The negative development was most pronounced in the group's home market of France, where revenues were lower by €45m or 5.4 per cent on an organic basis.

The Benelux/Germany region reported slight revenue growth of €1m or 0.4 per cent, however, while turnover in the United Kingdom/Scandinavia region posted stronger organic growth of €15m or 4.7 per cent year-on-year.
