The recycling rate of PET bottles increased for the seventh year in a row to touch 29 per cent last year, the National Association for PET Container Resources (Napcor) announced to mark the release of the "2010 Report on Post Consumer PET Container Recycling Activity" on Wednesday. According to Napcor, over 1.5bn pounds (ca. 680,000 tonnes) of the 5.350bn lbs of PET bottles placed on the market last year were collected for recycling in the USA. This is an increase in the collection volume of 113m pounds compared to 2009.
