A subsidiary of Polish energy group PGE has awarded a contract to construct a new waste-to-energy (wte) facility in Rzeszów in southeastern Poland to the Italian plant contractor Termomeccanica Ecologia and Rome-based construction firm Astaldi SpA.
The total value of the contract including design and turnkey construction of the wte plant is approximately €70m, according to Termomeccanica Ecologia. The new facility will have an incineration capacity of about 100,000 tonnes of municipal waste per year, generating 8 MWe and providing district heating in winter.
