The copper producer and recycler Aurubis completed the first three quarters of its financial year 2010/11 with its earnings before taxes (EBT) amounting to €219 million, a rise of €97 million compared to the first nine months of the previous financial year. The increase was due to the positive trend on important markets, the company management explained in the interim report published on Wednesday.
Good supply of copper scrap and other recycling materials ensured full capacity utilisation at all manufacturing plants. Together with the volumes used in the group's primary copper division, the total scrap input in the first nine months ended 30 June reached 264,000 tonnes, an increase of 40,000 tonnes compared with the same period last year, Aurubis reported.
