Björn Grufman is new BIR president

At the 2011 general assembly of the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) on Tuesday, the world recycling association elected Mr Björn Grufman as its new president for the next two years. Mr Grufman replaces Mr Dominique Maguin, who served at the helm of the organisation for the last four years.

Mr Grufman, a Swede, is managing director and majority shareholder of the Swedish scrap trading and processing company Metallvärden AB. He is a member of BIR since 1989 and has held various positions in the organisation. The new president of BIR has also served previously as president of the European Metal Trade and Recycling Federation (Eurometrec) as well as chairman of the Nordic Recycling Federation (NRF).
