Contract awarded for "ultra-large" waste to energy plant in Abu Dhabi

Swiss engineering company Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) is part of the consortium selected to deliver a new waste to energy (wte) plant for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, according to a recent announcement. The facility, which is to have a processing capacity of 900,000 tonnes of waste per year, is to be built on behalf of the emirate's utility company Emirates Water & Electricity Company (EWEC) and its waste management company Tadweer.

The consortium is led by the Japanese conglomerate Marubeni. In addition to HZI, it also includes the Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN)....
