Ecoprog: global waste to energy capacity to increase sharply by 2032

Right now, there are more than 2,700 thermal waste treatment plants with a combined capacity of around 530 million tonnes per year in operation worldwide, according to Ecoprog. The 16th edition of the consultancy's "Waste-to-Energy" report projects that by 2032 more than 3,000 plants with a capacity of more than 700 million tonnes will be in operation.

Not all markets are still expanding. After a long boom period, the number of new projects being awarded in China and the UK was declining. In contrast, there was still considerable market potential in other countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, Ecoprog reported....
