Galdino Claro new CEO of Sims MM

The Australian scrap metal group Sims Metal Management has appointed Galdino Claro as its new CEO. According to an announcement made Monday evening in Sydney, Mr Claro will become Sims CEO and Managing Director effective 4 November. He succeeds Daniel Dienst, who retired on 30 June, but has continued to serve in a consulting capacity while the executive search was underway.

Mr Claro leaves his position as CEO Metals and Minerals at Harsco Corporation, which provides services to the steel, rail industrial and natural gas sectors. He has served as CEO Americas for the aluminium rolling and recycling concern Aleris and CEO of Heico Metals LLC. Including 23 years with Alcoa Inc, Mr Claro brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience in the worldwide metals industry, according to Sims. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Taubate, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
