Geminor officially opens new hub for RDF imports in southern Finland

Annual handling volume of 150,000 tonnes / Long processing times for notifications criticised

The Norwegian waste and refuse-derived fuels (RDF) trader Geminor officially opened a new hub in the south of Finland in late November. The company puts the site's handling capacity at up to 150,000 tonnes of alternative fuels per year, making it "the biggest portal for the import of waste-derived fuels to Finland," said the company.

The facility is located near Helsinki in the Kilke Material Recycling Centre and is the largest of Geminor's three sites for RDF and SRF (secondary recovered fuels) in Finland. The 10,000 square metre site includes a 3,700 square metre hall for handling alternative fuels. The fuels will be prepared for transport via walking-floor trucks and delivered to regional waste to energy (wte) and co-incineration facilities....
