GRS collected more waste batteries in Germany in 2010


German waste portable batteries collection foundation GRS (Stiftung Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem) collected 14,500 tonnes of spent batteries in 2010. This volume is ca. 100 tonnes higher than in the previous year.

According to GRS, the collection rate for the year 2010 stood at 44 per cent, which is markedly higher than Germany's collection target of 35 per cent for 2012, and almost touches the target of 45 per cent to be reached by 2016.
