US zinc recycler and producer Horsehead Corporation increased its net sales by around 22.6 per cent from $286m to $350.8m in the first nine months of the current financial year, the company reported. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda), too, increased from $33.5m during the same period of time last year to $50.2m. The company also announced the acquisition of all the outstanding shares of Zochem Inc., a Canadian zinc oxide producer, on 1 November 2011. Horsehead is currently working on the construction of a new zinc production facility in North Carolina, USA and expects the new plant to start operating by the third quarter of 2013.
