The metals recycling and environmental services operations of French group Derichebourg generated annual turnover of €1.915bn. This is a 4.7 per cent contraction compared to the year before.
The amount of ferrous scrap handled by the group in its 2013/14 financial year stood at 3.692 million tonnes, down almost 3 per cent in annual comparison, according to preliminary figures published last week. However, Derichebourg's European ferrous recycling operations recorded 1.1 per cent volume growth in the year. In the final quarter, which came to a close on 30 September, the growth rate stood at 4 per cent. Derichebourg believes that the figures confirm for the time being the assessment that the European economy crossed a low point towards the end of the first half of the financial year.
