The restricted budgets of local authorities leave their mark on the sale of waste bins and on other environmental activities of French group Plastic Omnium. In the first half of 2015, the division’s turnover declined by 7 per cent, from €206.8m in the first six months of 2014 to €192.3m.

The environmental operations’ earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) were also lower than one year before, down 6 per cent from €19.4m to €18.3m. However, in spite of the difficult environment, the company consolidated its market share in Europe, winning new contracts in Paris, Gent and Ravensburg, the company reported in Paris on Thursday at the publication of its half-year report.
