The environment division of French group Plastic Omnium announced the acquisition of Rotherm, a leading European manufacturer of underground waste collection containers, on Tuesday. The company based in Stadtlohn in the northwest of Germany generated turnover of €12m in 2010, according to the new owner. Plastic Omnium further commented that the acquisition makes it the only company in Europe with an “end-to-end offer” in this segment ranging from container design to manufacturing, and strengthens its leading position in a rapidly growing market. The number of underground containers in Europe is expected to triple by 2015, Plastic Omnium reported.
