The waste management concern Remondis is to take over Thiess Waste Management Services. The AUD218m (ca. €181m) deal will allow Remondis to expand its market presence in Australia and will put it among the five largest companies in the country's waste sector, said the German concern in a Monday statement.

Theiss Waste Management operates transfer stations, logistics depots, recycling and waste treatment facilities and landfills in the Australian states of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. According to Remondis, the company generates annual revenues of AUD230m (€191m) and has approximately 300 employees.
Remondis has been active in Australia since 1983. Through the acquisition of one of Australia‘s largest waste management and recycling companies we can considerably expand our services for both municipal and commercial customers," said Remondis Board member Egbert Tölle.
