Saica Natur, the recycling arm of Saica Group, is expanding its recycling activities in its home market Spain. The packaging group announced the takeover of the waste collection and management company Ecovidal - Miguel Vidal e Hijos in the Madrid region. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Ecovidal collects and recycles 53,000 tonnes of wastes a year. The vast majority of this (92 per cent) is paper and board. The company has a warehouse spanning almost 16,000 m², employs 25 people and had an annual turnover of €10m in 2022, according to Saica. Ecovidal has been supplying recovered paper to the group’s paper mills for more than 40 years. Now, the compay is incorporated into Saica Natur.
Saica Natur operates more than 40 sites in Spain, Portugal, France and the UK. Besides Saica Natur, the Saica group also consists of the business areas Saica Paper (corrugated case material), Saica Pack (corrugated packaging) and Saica Flex (flexible packaging).
