British firm Shanks Waste Management has started the commissioning process of its new materials recycling facility in Kettering, UK. The £7 million plant set to become fully operational in early 2012 will process over 200,000 tonnes of non-segregated industrial and commercial waste annually, Shanks announced on Tuesday. The facility will also sort co-mingled dry mixed recyclabes to extract ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cardboard, paper, plastic and wood, the company added. Shanks Group plc generated revenues of £398m in the first six months of the financial year 2011/12 ended 30 September 2011.
