The British waste management firm Shanks Group plc significantly raised its revenues and profits in the first half of the financial year 2011/12. "Overall we achieved strong growth in the UK and Canada and performed well in our more mature Benelux market," acting group chief executive Chris Surch commented on Wednesday. Shanks' revenues for six-month period ended 30 September 2011 increased to £398 (ca. €460m), a growth rate of 14 per cent compared to £348m last year. The group's profit before tax jumped by 70 per cent from £10.5m to £17.5m (ca. €20.8m), Shanks reported.
