Morssinkhof-Rymoplast builds PET recycling plant in Germany

Morrsinkhof expands its food-contact rPET capacity
19.07.2019 −

The Dutch Morssinkhof-Rymoplast group will build a PET recycling plant in Markranstädt near Leipzig in the East of Germany. The new facility is to produce recycled PET suitable for applications with direct food contact. The Dutch plastics recycler reported that the plant would be built on a former site of Fehrer Automotive in Markranstädt.

The new facility is to be gradually expanded over the next few years to ultimately reach a capacity of 40,000 tonnes of recycled PET (rPET) a year. The investment volume was not disclosed.

According to Stefan Morssinkhof, the managing director of the Morssinkhof-Rymoplast group, the new project comes in reaction to increased demand for recycled PET for use in food packaging. Moreover, the new plant will provide logistical advantages for customers in the region.
