Suez awarded contract renewal worth €459m

|

Environmental services group Suez will be responsible for a further 19 years of municipal waste collection and treatment in the Carcassonne region of southwestern France. The extension and expansion of the public service concession with a value of €459m over its duration was announced by the company earlier this week.

Awarding the contract was the joint association of local authorities Covaldem 11 (Collecte et Valorisation des Déchets Ménagers de l’Aude). Within the framework of the new agreement effective 1 January, Suez reported it would boost the recovery of organic materials and energy and reduce the share of waste sent for disposal in order to reach a recovery rate of 75 per cent from 2020 onward.
