Boliden boosts revenues in the first half of 2011

The Swedish mining and metals group Boliden increased its revenues to SEK9.9bn in the second quarter of 2011, up 11 per cent from SEK8.9bn last year. The group's operating profit stood at SEK1.1bn. The smelters division of the group also raised its revenues from SEK8.2bn last year to SEK9.4bn in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. The production volumes of copper, gold and silver increased in comparison to the previous year, while lead and zinc production volumes fell slightly.

All in all, the Boliden group recorded revenues to the tune of SEK20.05bn during the first six months of 2011 compared to SEK17.2bn during the same period of time last year. The operating profit of the group also witnessed a slight increase and amounted to SEK2.5bn.
