Varel abandons plans for new recycled containerboard machine, Stora Enso cuts capacity

VPK Group starts up rebuilt Alizay paper machine producing recycled CCM

Last week, the paper company Stora Enso announced restructuring measures including the closing of production capacity which would cut its demand for recovered paper by more than 500,000 tonnes annually. Papier- und Kartonfabrik Varel also announced last week that it would not build a new paper machine in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, which would have produced recycled containerboard. However, the Belgian VPK Group reported that its rebuilt paper machine in Alizay in Northern France, which is to produce recycled corrugated case material, is at the end of the start-up phase and already in full production mode....
