The waste management and environmental services division of French group Veolia Environnement recorded an increase in sales by almost 12 per cent in the first quarter of 2011. Revenues totalled €2.361bn, up €248m on the same period one year before. Veolia reported that higher secondary raw materials prices accounted for about €90m of this growth at the release of the first-quarter report on Thursday. Overall, the group described the start into the year as satisfying, and confirmed the objectives for the full year announced earlier.
