Viridor has become the majority shareholder in the Norwegian plastics-to-liquids (ptL) company Quantafuel AS, in line with the terms of the takeover offer it made in February. Viridor had initially planned to complete the £90m (€96.5m) transaction only after the owners of at least 90 per cent of Quantafuel's share capital agreed to sell. However, the British waste management company, which is owned by the private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), decided late last month to proceed even though it was still slightly short of the 90 per cent target, and completed the transaction on 5 May....
