Waste textiles sorting in UK and the Netherlands faces "imminent collapse"

Second hand clothing in the Netherlands could soon be sent for incineration, rather than being reused or recycled, the Dutch textile recycling association VHT warns. "The textile sorting industry in the Netherlands is on the verge of collapse," the association wrote in a recent statement, adding that shuttering sorting operations would eliminate not only recycling capacity, but also as many as 2,000 jobs.
