Scarce and expensive primary plastics boosted plastic scrap prices significantly in Germany in February, notably for regrind produced from post-industrial polystyrene and polypropylene. On the other hand, grades mainly sold to overseas markets, such as mixed PE film scrap, experienced minor to significant price cuts compared with January. Market sources attributed the downward trend to the weak dollar, inventories in Asia and cheaper prices for primary plastics in this continent.
