French market sees leap in recovered paper prices in April

|

The upward trend in recovered paper prices continues. Again in April, prices for all grades rose in France – sometimes considerably. A particularly steep upswing was reported for deinking grades and for the ordinary recovered paper grades.

Previously, prices for mixed paper and board (1.02), supermarket paper and board (1.04) and old corrugated containers (OCC, 1.05) had been lower in France than in much of the rest of Europe, but they took a considerable step higher in April.

Demand was somewhat livelier for various reasons and, given the low collection volumes, this quickly has an impact on availability and ultimately prices. The higher grades of paper for recycling followed the trend and also became more expensive.
