German recovered paper prices steady despite inflow of Dutch volumes

|

(D) - Prices for recovered paper in the German market in March remained largely unchanged from the previous month. Only supermarket paper and board was occasionally sold at higher prices despite the fact that there have been problems with this grade after Dutch officials announced that they were investigating a recovered paper exporter on suspicion of illegal waste shipments to China.

In respnose to the news, Chinese customs officials intensified inspections of incoming containers which has stalled recovered paper trading, not only in Germany. As a consequence, more Dutch recovered paper ended up on the German recovered paper market. At the same time, the German market is reporting demand for supermarket paper and board from the Far East.
The full report for recovered paper in Germany will appear in EUWID Recycling and Waste Management 6/2013.
