Recovered paper prices increased in Poland in the first quarter

|

On the Polish recovered paper market, prices for mass grades rose in the first quarter of the year. The increases for supermarket paper and board, which took effect from mid-February or in March, were moderate while they were significant for deinking grades. There were further price adjustments in April.

The reasons for the upward trend are not entirely clear to market insiders. Paper mills in some countries, including Poland, are seeing slight order growth again compared with the previous year and therefore have fairly normal levels of demand for raw materials.

However, the overall activity levels in the European industry, especially in the packaging paper and packaging segments, are still not especially good.
