Recovered paper prices remained largely unchanged on the German market during May, according to the latest EUWID market report. The market had been largely calm, market insiders reported.
Collection volumes had so far remained largely unaffected by the bank holidays this month, respondents said. Quite to the contrary, collection volumes were actually quite good for May. Paper mills generally called in their orders as planned, but there had not been any enquiries for larger additional volumes recently.
Market participants' forecasts for June varied. While some suppliers did not rule out the possibility of downward pressure on prices in June, others expected prices in Germany to again move sideways, pointing out that the summer months with their typically low collection volumes were approaching.
